Open d'Italia, French triumph with Saddier ahead of Couvra. Laporta and Vecchi Fossa tenth.

The 82nd edition of the Italian Open d’Golf Championship ends with a French double. Indeed, to raise to the sky the trophy destined for the champion, at the conclusion of the four days of competition at the Argentario Golf Club in Monte Argentario (Grosseto), is Adrien Saddier, who with 14 strokes under par lined up all his opponents, starting with compatriot Martin Couvra, who finished with -12.

Saddier finished with an overall score of 266 strokes (69 64 67 66), two less than Couvra (69 63 67 69) and four less than the two golfers sharing the last step of the podium with 270 strokes, England&#8217s Dan Bradbury (64 68 71 67) and Scotland&#8217s Calum Hill (67 71 64 68). Closing out the Top 5, tied with 271 strokes, the’other Frenchman Clément Sordet (69 71 61 69) and Germany&#8217s Nicolai von Dellingshausen (68 68 70 65).

The top two finishers earned a place among the starters at The Open, the world&#8217s oldest major that kicks off next July 17 in Portrush, Northern Ireland. Saddier also won $510,000, part of the $3 million prize pool made available by organizers of the event, which this year was celebrating the 100th anniversary of its first edition.

As for the Italians in the competition, applause for Francesco Laporta and Jacopo Vecchi Fossa, who finished in 10th place, tied with four other players (the U.S. Bryant, Canada&#8217s Cockerill, Finland&#8217s Lindell and South Africa&#8217s Schaper) with 273 strokes overall, 7 under par.

Laporta finished each of the four days with 65, 69, 69 and 70 strokes, Vecchi Fossa, on the other hand, closed with 68, 67, 69 and 69 strokes.
