Trento’s new reinforcement for next season is coming from Germany: it is Simon Torwie, a 208-centimeter-tall center from 2001, who thus adds an alternative in the 3-position department available to the new head coach of the reigning Italian champion club, Marcelo Mendez. Torwie, who will wear jersey number 33, has signed a two-year deal.

Mendez himself explained what impressed him about the German and why he is happy with his signing: “Torwie is a player with great physical and technical potential; although he is still very young, he has gained a lot of international experience, playing in Spain, the Champions League, the U.S. university leagues, and lately also in the VNL with Germany. He already has distinct qualities at the wall and I am convinced that here in Trent he can become even more complete and a great all-around interpreter of his role”.

Torwie himself expressed great enthusiasm for his new adventure: “I am overjoyed to finally be able to play in the Italian SuperLega and to be able to do so with the reigning champion club. From afar I have always closely followed this league, which I consider the most beautiful and difficult in the world, and I am excited to finally experience it as a protagonist”.

“Trentino Volleyball is one of the best volleyball clubs– added the German volleyball player– and I consider landing here the most important moment of my career. During the last season in Lüneburg, I talked about Trento with Stefan Hübner: he clearly made me understand that I will arrive in a fantastic reality and in a very organized club, which always does the best for its players and then he spoke very well to me about the city and the whole environment”.
