Wimbledon: Ben Shelton’s plan to beat Jannik Sinner

Today is the day of the match between Jannik Sinner and Ben Shelton. The match is scheduled on court 1, immediately after the match between Iga Swiatek and Ludmilla Samsonova. The world number 1, facing a known elbow discomfort, faces a decidedly uncomfortable opponent who, in this edition of Wimbledon, seems to have found the right feeling with the court.
The U.S., the No. 10 seed in the men’s draw, said he has improved a great deal in terms of “movement on the court”. He definitely feels more fluid and, thanks to a service that is assisting him, he is playing at a very high level.
The record is clearly in favor of the world No. 1. In six confrontations, the American has won only once (back in 2023). However, Ben Shelton believes he is in top form and has the right weapons to knock out the blue outfielder.
The match plan is quite clear: serve at his best, make Jannik Sinner run a lot and, as he also did in the match with Lorenzo Sonego, go to the net when he gets the chance, so as to try to destabilize Jannik Sinner. Already a semifinalist at the US Open (2023) and at the last Australian Open, Ben Shelton is aware that he has a great chance. It will be up to Jannik Sinner to find a way to defuse him.
