There are stories that deserve to be told across borders. Stories of passion, territory, creativity and tradition. “Best Restaurants & Wines of 2025,” the new “best of” from Le Guide de L’Espresso, an initiative that combines authority, quality and international vision to bring Italy of taste to the world’s most prestigious tables, is born.
A volume, in English and French, that brings together the 100 best restaurants and 100 best wineries selected to bring our country’s food and wine excellence to the world. Exclusive interviews with 10 chefs and 10 wineries of excellence complete the work, along with the prestigious Top 50 Wines in the World ranking.

The entire Le Guide project benefits from the editorship of Luca Gardini – among the top experts on restaurants and products of excellence, as well as awarded as the best Italian wine critic in the world by the World Ranking of Wine Critics – and Gianluca Montinaro – already a longtime collaborator in the twenty years of Vizzari’s direction, one of the most attentive observers of the Italian food and wine scene and author of numerous studies dedicated to European culture and the languages of taste.

Recounting the best means doing it with responsibility, competence and independence. “Best Restaurants & Wines of 2025” was born in the wake of the values that have characterized Le Guide de L’Espresso for over forty years and represents its evolution on an international scale. The new code of ethics, announced during the event by L’Espresso President Gianluca Ianuario, is part of this path: a tool that further strengthens the transparency and rigor of the selection method adopted by all Le Guide de L’Espresso. Behind each name chosen there is a path of direct observation, listening and evaluation built over time, based on clear criteria. The code of ethics represents the concrete reference of this commitment: it guarantees independence in evaluations, transparency in methods, replicability of processes and places at the center the real experience of the guest, lived in ordinary conditions, without filters or exceptions. A principle that accompanies each edition and is strengthened today: telling the story of excellence with seriousness and passion and always doing so in a credible and responsible way.

“Best Restaurants & Wines of 2025” was created in partnership with the Pellegrini Group, with the common goal of promoting Italian excellence in the world, always with an eye to social responsibility and the enhancement of food as a tool for well-being. An approach based on a value vision shared with Le Guide and centered on quality and hospitality.

The Pellegrini Group is in fact a point of reference in collective catering, promoting quality and food culture in work and study places. With Pellegrini Catering Overseas, this same commitment also reaches international contexts. But to feed is also to “take care”: from this principle, also supported by Le Guide de L’Espresso, come projects such as the Ruben Restaurant in Milan, wanted by the Ernesto Pellegrini Foundation to offer a dinner every night to those living in difficult situations, or the initiative Gli Amici del Pellegrino, to make quality catering accessible, at a lowered price, to tourists during the Jubilee.

The Pellegrini Group is a leader in the field of food catering.

The Pellegrini Group is also active in researching the value of food as a lever of health, longevity and inclusion, themes that are among the principles that also inspire The Guides. Examples of this are the numerous initiatives to promote food culture carried out by the Pellegrini Academy, a scientific body whose purpose is to research, study, and develop cutting-edge proposals and solutions that not only meet society’s needs, but anticipate them. On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, Pellegrini is also a partner in the 24th Triennale Milano International Exhibition with the theme “Inequalities,” in which topics such as the link between food and longevity and the new poverties that become invisible fragilities are addressed.

The gaze is already turned to the next appointment: on October 23, in the prestigious setting of the Arcimboldi Theater in Milan, Le Guide de L’Espresso 2026 will be officially presented, a new chapter dedicated to the talents, territories and realities that every day contribute to writing the best food and wine tradition of our country.
