The ways of the market are endless, especially when big clubs, great coaches and talented players are involved. And that is how Sergio Scariolo made a heavy ‘joke’ to Virtus Bologna: it seemed to be done with the bianconeri, but Gabriele Procida chose Spain and Real Madrid.

According to Spanish sources, the talented Azzurri class of 2002, a free agent after his contract with Alba Berlin expired, will soon be under the orders of Brescia, the Blancos’ new coach.

Procida, a product of Cantù’s youth sector and also passed for Fortitudo Bologna, has rejected the offer from Virtus, with whom there had been talk for days of imminent signing. As a result, Virtus has turned to Abraham Canka to complete the package of Italians.

Selected at the 36th position in the 2022 NBA Draft (rights in the hands of the Utah Jazz), Procida played the last three seasons in Germany with Alba Berlin, where in 2024 he was awarded the Euroleague’s Rising Star. Last year he traveled to average 9.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 20.5 minutes. At Real he will reinforce the wings, orphaned by Dzanan Musa who has moved to Dubai.
