A choice of the heart. Damian Lillard, surprising everyone, has decided to return to play with the Portland Trail Blazers. After being cut by the Milwaukee Bucks, the’iconic “0” has chosen to follow the reasons of the heart, returning to what is his true home (he played in Portland from 2012 to 2023, before the move to the Bucks).

Despite offers from several NBA franchises, Damian Lillard preferred to make a romantic choice, partly to be as close to his family as possible. He signed a three-year contract at $42 million total (thanks to the buyouts he will receive from the Bucks, he will collect $282 million total over the next two seasons). At 35, this is probably his last contract.

The franchise was looking forward to having him back on the roster. Coach Chauncey Billups, a great admirer of his, was hoping for that. It should be remembered that the Oakland native point guard is the Trail Balzers’ all-time leading scorer with 19,376 points.

Currently grappling with the recovery from’Achilles tendon injury, Damian Lillard will then have the chance to do all his rehabilitation in the city where his family lives. It will be up to him, as soon as he is ready, to lend a hand to a franchise that has changed dramatically since his departure. However, someone of Damian Lillard’s talent always comes in handy.
