The Prague tournament starts in the best way for the two Italians included in the main draw: in the first round of the competition, Elisabetta Cocciaretto defeated the Swiss Viktorija Golubic, while Lucrezia Stefanini got the better of Viktoriya Tomova. Both Italian athletes won in two sets.

Cocciaretto, fresh from her success in the final in Baastad, overcame without any particular difficulty the restive Golubic, number 87 WTA, beating her 6-2, 6-3 in an hour and a half of play. The Marche player was only down once, after the first game lost on her own serve: an initial rusty moment brilliantly overcome in the continuation of the match.

Stefanini, on the other hand, defeated an athlete 47 positions higher in the ranking (104 vs. 151): 6-1, 7-6(3) was the final result, with the Florentine tennis player able to dominate the first fraction, characterized by no less than three games won on her opponent&#8217s serve, and not to tremble in the second set, when after suffering a comeback from 4-2 to 6-6 she managed to make the tiebreak her own.

Elisabetta Cocciaretto thus confirms her good moment, with ten wins and two losses in the last twelve matches played, while Lucrezia Stefanini returns to success after losing to Alena Kovackova in the final round of access to the Czech capital tournament’s draw, before being repechaged as “lucky loser” making the most of her second chance.
