Jannik Sinner, the'former trainer stays in the circuit: another Top 10 will follow

Just a few weeks after his surprise split with Jannik Sinner, athletic trainer Marco Panichi has accepted a new assignment that will lead him to follow another player currently in the top ten of the world rankings: he is Danish Holger Rune, who will immediately welcome Panichi to the team ahead of the Cincinnati tournament.
Confirming the news was Aneke Rune, Holger’s mother: “Marco Panichi – said during an ’interview with the Danish newspaper ‘BT’ – he will bring his great experience, not only in what concerns physical preparation but also in all other aspects indispendable to building a player capable of winning a Grand Slam tournament”.
Rune, born in 2003, has so far never made it past the quarterfinals in any of the four major tournaments of the year: he has made it there twice at Roland Garros (2022 and 2023) and once at Wimbledon (2023), surrendering in France to Casper Ruud both times and on English grass to Carlos Alcaraz. In Australia his best result is the fourth round (2023 and 2025), at the US Open the third (2022).
On the major circuit, Holger Rune has won five tournaments so far, three in 2022 (Munich, Stockholm, and Paris-Bercy), one in 2023 (Munich for the second time in his career), and, after a year to forget in 2024, one in 2025 (Barcelona). Six finals lost: Sofia and Basel in 2022, Monte Carlo and Rome in 2023, Brisbane in 2024, and Indian Wells in 2025.
