The adventure at the ongoing Women&#8217s European Championships being held in Switzerland by Italy, defeated 2-1 by England in extra time, stopped just short of the final.

The Azzurre came close to pulling off a feat against the defending champions, who at 96′ were still down against Soncin’s team, which had taken the lead at 33′ thanks to the usual Bonansea.

In 96 minutes, however, Agyemang took advantage of a wrong clearance by Giuliani to score the equalizing goal that postponed any verdict by at least half an hour.

The second and final mockery, even more painful, came at 119′ when everything seemed all set for penalty kicks. Kelly went to the penalty spot, got hypnotized right by Giuliani but then repeated in the net for the 2-1 win that sent the English women into the final, against either Germany or Spain.
