Lewis Hamilton finished only seventh place in the Belgian Grand Prix, run on a track usually friendly to him like Spa. A result that in other circumstances would have been certainly disappointing, but that came after a mighty recovery from eighteenth place with eleven positions gained in just eight laps. That’s why with the engines now switched off, the Briton can only manifest his rediscovered optimism, albeit accompanied by new apologies addressed to Ferrari.

“I now have a better understanding of the changes that Ferrari has adopted – Hamilton explained in end-of-day interviews from Spa -We’ll go back to the factory, but I’m really grateful with the men at Ferrari for all the very hard work they’ve done. I really want to say thank you to each and every one of them, because so many of them did a really huge job and they continue to do it”.

Honored by the international audience as the best driver of the Belgian Grand Prix, Hamilton bowed his head as he thought back to the misadventures that forced him to start at the back of the pack. “I want to continue to apologize to the fans for the mistakes I made over the weekend – the British Ferrari driver explained further. They were due to numerous factors, but especially the one on Saturday is entirely my responsibility”.

Hence the splendid comeback that marked his race at Spa. “It is definitely the conditions in which I grew up. Over time they gave me numerous opportunities, and I gradually learned to love them. We were able to win points, and especially to increase the gap with Mercedes. This is definitely positive, but I want to keep pushing”, concluded Hamilton.
