The last day without glory for Italy at the World Fencing Championships in Tbilisi. The Azzurri saber team (Michela Battiston, Chiara Mormile, Eloisa Passaro, Mariella Viale) ended their journey in the round of 16, beaten by Spain 45-42, despite a super performance on the piste by Eloisa Passaro capable of going 11-5 against Navarro.
And it stopped at the quarterfinals the spadists’ (Davide Di Veroli, Matteo Galassi, Andrea Santarelli and Gianpaolo Buzzacchino) run, who after overcoming Holland 45-35 surrendered to Kazakhstan 43-45. Italy’s world championship ended with 6 medals including 2 gold and 4 bronze.
