Comes from diving Italy&#8217s first gold at the World Championships in Singapore. Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro beat China’s Zilong Chen and Yajie Li and won the rainbow final of the mixed springboard synchro. Pellacani and Santoro pull off the feat by winning the rainbow title with a score of 308.13 ahead of Australia&#8217s Cassiel Rousseau and Maddison Keeney silver with 307.26 and more importantly beating the Chinese who don&#8217t go beyond 305.70.

Never had Italy gone so high with a pair. So far only Klaus Dibiasi (in the platform in Belgrade 1973 and Cali 1975) and Tania Cagnotto (in the 1m springboard in Kazan 2015) had managed to win a world gold medal. Already vice world champions last year and d’Europe this year, for the two young Roman divers this is the eighth medal in mixed synchro between World, European and European Games.

“The value of this medal is indescribable. We are too happy. Winning it with Matteo is the icing on the cake – Pellacani’s hot comment on the world gold he just won -. The next goal is the individual event. Tomorrow I rest, then try to focus on the individual test because they aspire to get a good result”.

“These are so many emotions all at once that I can&#8217t order them, I have a sea inside – stresses Santoro -. There&#8217s happiness, also fear because we didn&#8217t think we would win. I am very happy to join Chiara. I can&#8217t wait to start this experience. It will be like going to a’different home because Chiara and I have known each other since we were very small; our families are friends, we vacation together, so it”.
