Italian basketball still in mourning: farewell to Michele Verderame

These are really sad and heavy days for Italian basketball: in the space of a few hours Marco Bonamico and Michele Verderame are gone.
Verderame, born Sept. 23, 1970, in Peschici (Foggia), had made his debut at a very young age in VL Pesaro, winning a historic scudetto with the Marche team. His career then took him to wear the jerseys of Faenza, Porto San Giorgio and Benevento.
Over twenty years also spent as a basketball and minibasket instructor, before ending his competitive career in Apricena and Vieste. Later, for fifteen years, he was a player-coach in Serie C with Cagli, becoming a reference point for the local basketball movement.
