Andrea Consolini, historic bronze in Parkour Speed

Historic bronze by Andrea Consolini, who took a fantastic third place in the Parkour Speed at the World Games in China. With the fourth time in the qualifying battery, the Brescian took the measures to give it his all in the final. Arms in the air, for a very important third place, after he won silver 3 years ago in Birmingham.
Conquering the podium is never easy. In previous days Andrea Consolini had suffered a biceps tear, but that had not deterred his desire to do well. The Italian confirmed his place on the podium in the speed specialty, taking bronze (he was second in 2022) after completing the run in 27.27, a time just three hundredths faster than Colombian Carlos Pena.
“I knew that the time of the semifinal, 27.47, was improvable, and so it was in the final with 27.27 – stressed Consolini -. I am satisfied, because the level was very high and I was coming from a slight biceps injury. And I am happy because I confirm myself among the best in the world, despite an injury just before the race: four days ago I broke my biceps brachii. And until yesterday I wasn”t sure if I could do this race, because it hurt so much to do a specific pass that I had to do both going and coming back”.
“During the rehearsals in fact I felt like a ‘shot in the arm’ – revealed Consolini -It was an obstacle that was in front of me. As Parkour teaches you to face obstacles, there will always be an obstacle in front of you but you just have to make an effort to overcome it. I gritted my teeth and kept going. The work pays off, as does the path and process we are doing with the technicians”.
So from Consolini came an appeal regarding the future of his discipline: “I hope that soon Parkour will become an Olympic specialty. In Brescia and beyond, it is a sport that is catching on. Young people like it, but so do older people. Special thanks to my family, my girlfriend and the technicians who believed in me”.
