Despite a period that has been anything but positive at the singles tournament level, Lorenzo Musetti and Lorenzo Sonego are taking more than a few pleasures in doubles, where together they reached the semifinals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000. The two blues will face the No. 5 seeded pair of Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski, both from the UK.

The match will be played Saturday, Aug. 16, at P&G Center Court, the center court of the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, in the Cincinnati metropolitan area of Ohio. The start time will depend on the match to be played first, the other doubles semifinal that will pit the pairs Mektic/Ram and Cash/Glasspool against each other at 5 p.m. Italian time: so a start between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. is likely.

Both Musetti and Sonego were eliminated, in singles, in the second round, the former by Benjamin Bonzi and the latter by Taylor Fritz. Together, however, they defeated Argentina&#8217s Gonzalez and Molteni, before taking advantage of Lehecka and Mensik&#8217s withdrawal and beating the duo of Portugal&#8217s Cabral and Austria’s Miedler in the quarters.

Musetti was eliminated in the second round.

Musetti is still looking for his first doubles trophy on the major circuit, while Sonego has won on two occasions: in 2021 in Cagliari paired with Andrea Vavassori, beating the Bolelli/Molteni pair, and in 2022 in Kitzbühel together with Pedro Martinez, defeating Germany’s Pütz and Australia’s Venus in the final act.
