Jannik Sinner recounts his duel with Carlos Alcaraz: "We have one thing in common"

Jannik Sinner reassured fans at a press conference on the eve of the start of the U.S. Open: the virus that stranded him in Cincinnati is now over. “It was just a virus, in two days I will be 100 percent. First of all, I am very happy to be back here. It is a great tournament. It’s obviously the last Slam we have this season, so the motivation is very high. Physically I feel good”.
The Blue talked about Carlos Alcaraz: “We are different but we know each other well. With other players the point might end sometimes, but he gets on certain balls and so he reads the game differently. So there are longer exchanges. Now we know each other better. It is a very tactical game. He prepares matches differently than before. My team and I do the same. We have different styles, of playing but also how we are on and off the court. We are just different”.
“At the same time, however, it is beautiful to see, because it makes everything very interesting. The’only thing we have in common is that we train hard. We make choices according to tennis. Right now it is our priority, as it should be, because it is the little details that make the difference”.
On the Us Open: “It matters a lot here whether you play day or night. There are so many little details that make this Slam different. For example, we sleep in the city and it takes an’hour to get there. These are small things, but if you don”t handle them well, it becomes difficult to play at the highest level”.
