Milan-Cremonese 1-2
28′ Baschirotto (C), 45′ Pavlovic (M), 61′ Bonazzoli (C)
A Milan’s disappointing first half at the San Siro. The Rossoneri started with conviction but struggled to create noteworthy scoring chances, and at the back they danced with Pavlovic and Estupinan protagonists of several mistakes. At 28′ the grigiorossi take a resounding lead with Baschirotto, who header anticipates Pavlovic and beats Maignan. The Diavolo struggled and only sketched a reaction in the final half, when Pavlovic’s equalizer arrived: the Serbian defender redeemed himself by framing the 1-1 on Estupinan’s assist. The guests protested an earlier contact between Saelemaekers and Zerbin but the referee validated the goal.
Allegri flunks Estupinan, who is immediately replaced at the beginning of the second half by Jimenez. Milan definitely plays better and commands operations, Modric, Fofana and Pulisic engage an excellent Audero. However, at 61′ comes the magic of Bonazzoli: Gimenez loses the ball, Pezzella with a soft cross fishes Bonazzoli in the area who with a grand acrobatic gesture beats Maignan. Allegri’s team throws itself into the attack in search of an equalizer, the Tuscan coach adds a forward (Chukwueze for Tomori) and then brings on Jashari, in for Modric. At’80’Loftus-Cheek sends just wide. Milan’s push ended there: bitter knockout on the debut for the Diavolo.
Roma-Bologna 1-0
53′ Wesley
Fizzing first half and great pace at the Olimpico, Gasperini’s team created at least three clear chances in the first quarter of an hour with Evan Ferguson. The guests had a goal cancelled by Orsolini, then were saved by the post on Cristante’s header off Soulé’s free kick. On the half-hour mark Immobile was forced off the field with a muscle problem, in came Castro for Bologna, which also lost Casale in the final half.
The visitors were then forced off.
Ripresa, on 53′ Roma found the lead with Wesley, who took advantage of Lucumì’s mistake to beat Skorupski with a diagonal right-footed shot. The Emiliani tried to fight back with Orsolini while Roma missed the double on several occasions with Wesley and Koné. In the final minutes of the match Italiano throws Bernardeschi into the fray, while Gasperini gives space to Dybala and Dovbyk. Lots of chances in the last minutes, but the result does not change anymore and Roma takes the first three points of the season.
