Danilo Gallinari played his last game for l’Italbasket on Sunday evening, when Slovenia defeated beaten and eliminated from EuroBasket 2025 the national team led by coach Gianmarco Pozzecco, who at the end of the game also announced his resignation. The big winger from Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, however, declared himself largely optimistic about the future of Italian basketball.

“We are in very good hands – he explained to ‘Sky Sport’ after his Italy’s game against Slovenia.”

Seeing how these guys have matured since the first day of the gathering is beautiful. It is also to see their journey and it will be to find out how much they will give each summer to the national team. For me it will be exciting, I will continue to support them on TV”.

Gallinari, however, cannot hide disappointment over Italy’s knockout in conjunction with its last game: “We started so-and-so. Then we never gave up, but you have to play at a high level for 40 minutes to win games like that. We then managed to get it back on its feet and we tried our best, but it wasn&#8217t enough. We made several mistakes, but then we came out on top. Too bad”.

“Now I feel a mix of feelings, it was good. I am still excited, wonderful to share such a moment with the teammates, the federation, the staff, the coach, the fans. I tried and tried again, it was an exciting and beautiful journey. I recommend it to all young guys”, concluded Gallinari on his last day as a player with the Italian national team.
