Gigio Donnarumma happy at Manchester City: from PSG they explain his farewell
Manchester City soccer market: Gigio Donnarumma has already taken the Premier League by storm after making his debut for the Sky Blues in the derby with Manchester United. A radical change of outlook, after a’summer spent as a Paris Saint-Germain redundant with the risk of turning into a foreign body of the French champions for the entire season. In the meantime, however, some explanations have come from his old club about his farewell to Ligue 1.
“There were several circumstances that, combining with each other, led to this decision – explained to ‘RMC Sport’ Luis Campos, strategic adviser to Paris Saint-Germain -. Donnarumma had asked for a salary at the level of PSG before, not at the level of PSG today. Things have changed, and the club is more important than anyone else”.
“We took some time to evaluate the situation regarding Donnarumma as best we could–added Campos. In case we could not find an agreement, we had an obligation to find an alternative solution. We have to protect PSG, play well and win the games we play. This is the stability of the club, and it will not change”.
Donnarumma, already the author of a save against Manchester United that has made the rounds of English television stations, has meanwhile expressed his great enthusiasm for joining Manchester City. “I am really happy and excited to be at one of the best clubs in the world. This is a club with a long history behind it and is hungry for victories. I know there’s a lot of responsibility, but I am proud to help the club continue to win together” he told the club”s official channels.
He has not forgotten his time in Paris, however. “Certainly Milan and PSG have helped me a lot in my growth – continued Donnarumma – I have won so much in my career, so I will always be grateful to them for everything they have given me. But now I am completely focused on my new challenge here: to write history and become a symbol for the city and the club. And above all, to make the fans proud and win many trophies together, because it is a historic club and deserves to go as high as possible. I am proud to be here and happy with the choice I made, and I hope to write history here and win as many trophies as possible, that is my goal”.
