There are many messages of condolences and affection for Matteo Franzoso, who tragically passed away Monday in La Parva, Chile after a disastrous fall in training. These include those of teammates Mattia Casse and Benjamin Alliod.

Through a post published on his Instagram account, Casse recalled the day of his podium in Wengen: “You were the first to hug me and tell me bravo, you lifted me like I was a feather and you were happy as a child… life has already been harsh on me, but this is unprecedented!!! I am used to always going fast and passing over everything always!!! This time is hard, not to say eternal…I wish I could have shared this Olympic season with you! Have a good trip I will remember you forever”.

Benjamin Alliod, another roommate writes on social: “Matte…I can&#8217t find the words, it doesn&#8217t seem true. One moment we were together leaving, the usual banter accompanied by your winking smile. You leave and in a minute everything changes. My blood freezes, you are no longer there”.

.

“Besides being a teammate you were a great friend, sharing the same passion and dreams as me. Very often we would ask each other ‘But why don&#8217t we do slalom? We are stronger than that in speed’. You don&#8217t know how much I would give for that to have been the case. You leave us a great void Franz… I will always carry you with me and remember you for the special person you were” concluded Alliod.
