A Turning Point in Federica Brignone’s Career

Federica Brignone announced on her social media profiles that she is leaving the Carabinieri. The Italian champion, who is currently at J Medical recovering from her latest leg surgery, announced that she will return to competing for the Courmayeur Ski Club, where she grew up.
“Thank you to the Carabinieri Sports Center, which has supported me for so many years filled with success. At this point in my career, I’ve decided to step down, and I’ll be back on the slopes representing the ski club where I grew up!” announced the two-time Olympic champion.
Federica Brignone joined the Carabinieri in 2007 at the age of 17, taking the oath to join the winter sports section of the Carabinieri Sports Center in Selva di Val Gardena.
The Aosta Valley native was promoted to the rank of Deputy Brigadier in 2022 following her competitive successes, and last year, a few months before the Milan-Cortina Olympics, she was sworn in as a Marshal. After nineteen years, she has been discharged.
There is no set date yet for her return to competition, but she herself has said she feels she is making good progress: “I’m recovering quickly; I’m happy, and I hope to keep it up,” she said at the FISI Media Day, describing her recovery as “easier than last year’s,” though she noted that “it will still take some time.” She explained that she had only put on her skis for two days at the end of July, and her return to the snow will happen “when I’m feeling well.”
