Everything happens in qualifying for the Grand Prix d’Azerbaijan between red flags – as many as six (it is a record) – and light rain, in a session that lasted a couple of d’hours. In the end to take pole position is Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who mocks Carlos Sainz (Williams).

Ferrari disaster: Charles Leclerc ends up in the wall and will start from 10th position; it doesn’t go any better for his teammate Lewis Hamilton, out of Q2, who will start from 12th place. Also bad for McLaren: Oscar Piastri goes to the wall and Lando Norris does not take advantage, finishing only seventh.

On the lowest step of the podium Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls), who will start from the second row as Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), followed by his teammate George Russell, fifth ahead of Yuki Tsunoda’s other Red Bull.
