Rafa Leao, while waiting to be able to return to the field (he might do so in the big match against Napoli) confessed himself in a long interview with SayLessGlobal Podcast.

In particular, he revealed an anecdote from the past: “I was 8 years old and Benfica wanted me. My father was enthusiastic. I eventually signed, but my dad did not have the car to take me to training sessions”.

“Benfica told me not to worry, to sign the contract, and that they would pick me up from school with a bus that would take me to the field to train”.

Things didn’t go that way, however: “On the first day I waited for the bus: it never came. On the second and third day, the same thing. A week went by and I didn&#8217t even see the shadow of that bus: I burst into tears. I couldn&#8217t even go to practice. That was when we decided to sign for Sporting“

.

“A few months ago, my father met Rui Costa, the’current president of Benfica, and they laughed about it. Rui Costa told him, ‘I am so sorry for what happened with your son, for not going to pick him up'”.
