Carlos Alcaraz smiles on the court but doesn’t hide about ankle pain

Carlos Alcaraz has reached the quarterfinals of the Japan Open in Tokyo: a success that came despite pain in his ankle, which forced him to not train on the eve of the match against Belgian Zizou Bergs and led him to play the match with a bandage tightening the painful part.
At the end of the match, which closed at 6-4, 6-3 after 81 total minutes of play, Alcaraz spoke precisely about his physical problem, admitting some concern: “With my team we have prioritized recovery, I trust them because for me they are the best team I can have at my disposal. The situation is normal, but some movement on the field worried me”.
“In general, however, I think I played a good match, playing good tennis – added the’current world No. 1 -. I admit that at several moments I thought about possible ankle injuries, but I would say it went well and I have confidence for the continuation of this tournament”.
Alcaraz already knows the name of his opponent in the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 tournament in the Japanese capital: it is the American Brandon Nakashima, current No. 33 in the ATP rankings, who in his round of 16 match defeated 7-5, 6-3 Marton Fucsovics, a Hungarian athlete who at the world ranking level occupies the No. 58 position.
