Ferdinando De Giorgi enjoys the encore: "I never tire of winning"

Ferdinando De Giorgi is over the moon after winning his fifth men’s volleyball World Cup, his second consecutive as coach of’Italvolley: “How do you get tired of winning? There is so much work behind this victory, not only mine, but all the people who have had a long summer this year. There were many things we had to work on and improve”.
“The staff did a huge job – added Azzurri coach after the triumph with Bulgaria – to recover important players like Russo, Gargiulo with the ankle, and then Daniele’s injury. Many things happened that only a really special group could absorb and turn into positive energy, as then happened in this World Cup”.
“I am so proud and happy, especially for the Federation, which now enters the legend: not just history, but the legend. To be in the company of Julio Velasco also in this achievement makes me really happy. I am proud of the work we are doing, because it is fundamental for our whole movement. National teams bring visibility through results, and it’s not just about winning, although of course winning helps. It’s how you win: the way the boys (and girls) played and fought. Conveying emotions is, in my opinion, the most important medal to win”.
“Our goal, as well as the challenge for all teams and every sportsman, is to remain in excellence. That means always playing for medals, in every competition. I believe we are on the right track, because we now often and willingly show up to play for medals” concluded De Giorgi.
