Among the top players on contract expiration is Dayot Upamecano. The defender’s entourage has asked Bayern Munich for a substantial pay raise for the Frenchman but the club at the moment is not so convinced it will go along with the request.
The Bavarians are working to lower the wage bill and be more financially sustainable but the risk of losing Upamecano is real. The champion is on the radar of Liverpool and Real Madrid but Inter Milan, which already sounded him out in the summer, is also on the alert.
“We are trying to convince him to stay” Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl said recently. However, the club does not want to be caught unprepared and has already put Marc Guehi in its sights should Upamecano leave.
