A return to Genoa, but with new colors than in the past.

Genoa is fishing among former Sampdoria players. To reinforce its midfield, in fact, the Grifone would be ready to bring back to the shadow of the Lantern a face already known to the city. Who has already known him in Blucerchiati colors, however: it is in fact Morten Thorsby, now at Union Berlin.

According to Saturday’s ‘Sky Sport’, in fact, negotiations between Genoa and the German club would already be at an advanced stage. The 1996-born Norwegian arrived at Sampdoria in 2019, carving out plenty of space for himself over the next three seasons in Serie A. Thorsby then left the Ligurian capital after 98 appearances in all competitions (topped by a good haul of 8 goals). He then moved to Union Berlin in 2022 for €4 million, playing as a starter mainly in the Europa League. In the Bundesliga, however, there were 23 appearances in a single season on German soil with one goal to his credit.

Thorsby could be the next Rossoblù purchase after Mateo Retegui. “I am happy. I’m in a great team with a great coach. I spoke with Milito and he told me that Genoa is a beautiful club with great fans. There were also other clubs about me, however, the best choice for me was Genoa,” said the Grifone’s new center forward after his purchase was made official. In defense could instead come Koni De Winter, who after returning to Juventus from his loan at Empoli may again decide to make a change in order to find more minutes.
