After World Championships, Marlen Reusser takes encore gold in European time trial

Swiss Marlen Reusser won the women’s Élite time trial at the European Championships being held in France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Reusser, who just graduated as world champion in Rwanda, did the encore, covering the 24-kilometer course in 33’06”83, averaging 43.48 kilometers per hour (kmh) and winning her fourth continental title in the specialty.
Norwegian Mie Bjorndal Ottestad, silver, and Mischa Bredewold of the Netherlands, bronze, also made the podium, separated by 49 and 51 seconds from Reusser, respectively.
Fourth place for another Norwegian, Katrine Aalerud, who was initially credited with the third time, later revised by two hundredths in favor of the Dutchwoman. Twelfth place went to Vittoria Guazzini, the’only Italian woman in the race, who charged a gap of 2’15”.
