Olimpia Milano: Messina takes head count for Monaco of'former Mirotic

The LBA opener ended in the worst way, namely with a home loss against Derthona (coached by Messina’s former assistant, namely Fioretti). Coach Messina was unable to count on several key roster members, particularly Nebo, Shields and Brown.

But which of these three aces will be available for the very delicate challenge on Thursday, October 9, also at the Forum, against Monaco of former Mirotic and James? Certainly Nebo will not be in the match. The long man got, against Partizan, an injury of no small importance, namely a hamstring injury in his right thigh and will be evaluated in at least three more weeks.

In contrast, barring unforeseen circumstances, Shields and Brown look likely to recover in time and thus be present for a challenge that, at this point, is already very important. In particular, having Brown in the booth would be a mouth of oxygen for Coach Messina, who needs a player who can run the red-and-white offense with vision. Toté and Cancar, however, who are still looking for the best physical condition, will not be there.

After winning in the opener with Red Star, the’AX lost to Partizan. Winning the Euroleague opener at home would be crucial to give continuity to the new project.
