Lorenzo Insigne, new glimmer for return to Serie A

Since last July 1, the date when his adventure at Toronto FC ended, Lorenzo Insigne has never hidden his ambition to return to Serie A: for the’former Napoli captain someone (such as Parma and Fiorentina) had already tried to sound the ground, but only in the last few hours seems to have rekindled the possibility of seeing the 34-year-old fantasist in the Italian league.
The possibility of seeing the 34-year-old fantasist in the Italian league has been rekindled.
According to reports from ‘Il Messaggero’, in fact, Maurizio Sarri is reportedly trying to convince Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani for the biancoceleste management to sign Insigne, especially in light of the injury emergency that, among others, will force the biancoceleste coach to do without one of the points of reference of the offensive phase, Mattia Zaccagni.
The latter, given the injury sustained before the match against Torino (which in fact he was unable to play), could be away from the field for more than three weeks, with Lazio committed in Bergamo against Atalanta on Oct. 19, at home against Juventus on Oct. 26 and Pisa in the midweek match on Thursday, Oct. 30.
The contacts between Insigne and Lazio are not new: the footballer had already talked about it shortly after his farewell to Canada, specifying, however, that no negotiations had been officially opened. What is certain is that, if he had the opportunity, he would hardly say no to a return to Serie A, even to play out his remaining hopes of a return to the national team after the 54 appearances collected between 2012 and 2022, topped off with success at Euro 2020 in the summer of 2021.
