After fifth triumph in Lombardy Tadej Pogačar thanks teammates

Tadej Pogačar is overjoyed but at the same time keeps his feet on the ground thanking his UAE Team Emirates teammates after his fifth victory in the Giro di Lombardia out of five participations in the dead-leaf classic. Here are the Slovenian star’s warm words.

“To win this race five times, in every participation, is something incredible. Great credit also goes to my teammates, starting with Novak and Sivakov who controlled the race and protected me on the first climbs.”

“I must also thank in particular Rafal Majka, who is retiring today. It is the seventh year in a row that I say at the end of the season that I have had the best season ever, and it is a concept that I can strongly reiterate today”.

This year Pogačar has racked up 20 victories: two stages and final standings in the UAE Tour, Strade Bianche, Tour of Flanders, Fleche Wallonne, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, three stages and final standings in the Tour of Dauphiné, four stages and final standings in the Tour de France, world championship, European championship, Tre Valli Varesine and Giro di Lombardia.
