In less than an hour’s play, U.S. Taylor Fritz, the No. 4 seed, beat Germany’s Alexander Zverev, No. 3, with a score of 6-3 6-4 in the preliminary round of the Six Kings Slam, a very rich indoor concrete exhibition in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

A single break decides the first set, won by Fritz leaving Zverev at 15 in the second game, Sascha has three counterbreak balls at 2-4, including two consecutive ones, but Fritz cancels them and shortly after closes the partial in his favor.

Still less history in the second set: at 1-1 Zverev goes 0-40 on his serve, nullifies the first two break points but the third does not. It is the decisive stretch for Fritz, who maintains the lead until the end. In the semifinals, the son of former top 10 in the 1970s Kathy May will face Carlos Alcaraz.
