When Jannik Sinner plays in Vienna: background with Daniel Altmaier

Archived his victory at the Six Kings Slam (beating lifelong rival Carlos Alcaraz in the final), Jannik Sinner is ready to dive back into the ATP circuit climate. As the No. 1 seed, he takes the court at the Vienna Open, a tournament he won in 2023. This time, no chance of facing Carlos Alcaraz again in a’possible final, considering that the Spaniard is not on the Viennese tournament roster.
In the first round, the current world number 2 will face German Daniel Almaier. The two recently faced each other in Shanghai with the Italian succeeding in two sets: 6-3, 6-3 the partials of the match that lasted just over an hour and a half.
In total, there are three previous matches between the two tennis players with the German winning on one occasion, namely at Roland Garros, 2023 edition, in a match that lasted a full five sets. The’other precedent, however, saw Jannik Sinner win, also in five sets, at the 2022 U.S. Open.
The match between the two will be staged on Wednesday, October 21, no earlier than 5:30 p.m. on center court. This is good news for Jannik Sinner, who thus has some’ time to regain energy after traveling to Riyadh to take part in the Six Kings Slam.
