Jannik Sinner: Corrado Barazzutti takes a clear position.

The Italian tennis world is divided between those in favor and those against after Jannik Sinner withdrew from the Davis Cup: the South Tyrolean after two consecutive successes prefers to prepare for the Australian Open in January and has rejected captain Filippo Volandri’s call-up.
“We are facing an absolutely respectable choice” said former Italy captain Corrado Barazzutti, who sided with the world number two. “For the past two years Sinner has been available to play and has been instrumental in winning two Davis Cups”.
“If for any reason, personal scheduling or otherwise, Sinner decides not to answer the call-up this year, the choice must be respected, especially considering what he has done and is doing for all of Italy”,
Barazzutti told Rai Radio 1 again.
“Jannik has shown more than once his attachment to the national team jersey, so if he gives up one year – as, by the way, so many of his illustrious colleagues have already done in the past – I do not see why we should not respect this decision of his”.
