On the sidelines of Inter’s match on the field of Union Saint-Gilloise, valid for Matchday 3 of the Champions League 2025-2026, Beppe Marotta spoke about two names that are taking up more and more space in Cristian Chivu’s rotations, Pio Esposito (who started alongside Lautaro Martinez) and Ange-Yoan Bonny, who was decisive in the league against Roma. Two players who now play an important role and who are unlikely, according to the words of the Nerazzurri manager, to be players in the next soccer market session.

“Pio Esposito has been with us since he was practically a child – said the’Inter CEO -, we have appreciated his footballing qualities, but above all his human qualities. The great humility, the desire to learn day after day mean that these are all characteristics that set him on his way to becoming a champion”.

“As far as Bonny is concerned, evidently, the feedback we had had at the club&#8217s technical area, namely Ausilio and Baccin, was positive– Marotta added later.

Above all, however, let&#8217s not forget that Chivu had the opportunity to coach him already at Parma for months, he too endorsed what was at first a’hypothesis for the attack”.

A class of 2005, Pio Esposito has taken the field in five of the last six matches played by Inter between the league and Champions League, scoring in the 2-0 win at Cagliari last Sept. 27. He also scored his first goal for the national team on Oct. 11, in the 3-1 win over Estonia. Bonny has been a regular presence since the beginning of the year, albeit often with a minor minutes: however, he has already managed to score three official goals against Torino, Cremonese and Roma.
