WTA 250 Guangzhou, Elisabetta Cocciaretto out in quarterfinals

Elisabetta Cocciaretto, world number 95, was beaten with a score of 6-3 6-4 by the U.S. Ann Li, number 44, in the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 on the concrete in Guangzhou, China.

From the second to the seventh game of the first set there were no less than five breaks, three were in favor of Li who went ahead 2-0 and then 5-1 before giving back one of the two break leads and then closing comfortably on the second set point.

In the second set the breaks are only three but it is still Li who commands the dances going again 2-0 and then 5-1, here she has another break point that is also a match point, she misses it, and on 5-2 she returns a break advantage.

The Marche player has two balls to go 5-5 on her opponent’s serve, but she saves herself and with three consecutive points closes the file after an hour and 25 minutes of play.
