Dislodged after the first half of Milan-Pisa (2-2, played Friday night), Raul Albiol underwent surgery to resolve the fracture of the fifth metacarpal and will most likely miss the Nerazzurri’midweek match they will play Thursday against Lazio. In the note released by the club on Monday, however, it mentions a relatively quick return with a protective brace.

“Pisa Sporting Club announces that footballer Raul Albiol underwent surgery on his left hand– the statement reads.

The operation, performed by the team of Dr. Alberto Guardoli, was necessary due to the dislocated fracture of the fifth metacarpal suffered by the defender in the first half of the match played last Friday at the ‘Meazza’ against AC Milan”.

“The surgery was perfectly successful and the player will resume work on the field, with a protective brace, already in the coming days” concludes the Tuscan club, which is therefore confident of having the veteran Spaniard back on the field for the challenges of November. After Lazio, Pisa will face Torino away on Sunday 2 and Cremonese at home on Friday 7.

Generated in 1985, Raul Albiol returned to Italy as a free agent, accepting the offer presented to him by Pisa in early September. The Spaniard had already played six seasons in the top Italian league, all with the Napoli jersey, between 2013 and 2019, winning the 2014 Italian Super Cup against Juventus, won by the partenopei on penalties also thanks to Albiol himself, author of one of the goals from the penalty spot.
