Despite the top spot in the standings shared with Italian champions Napoli, there could be several movements at Milan in January. The farewell of Santiago Gimenez, requested in England by Sunderland and in Argentina by Boca Juniors (which also wants to snatch Paulo Dybala, whose contract is expiring, from Serie A, is almost certain: the Mexican has not been able to change the mind of Massimiliano Allegri, who was already hesitant about the former Feyenoord in the summer and would have liked to exchange him for Roma’s Artem Dovbyk. Milan hopes to scrape together 25-30 million euros from the sale of Santiago Gimenez, who may not be the’only one to leave Milanello in January.

According to the latest rumors, Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also make a change of scenery in the next soccer session. The English midfielder had hoped to play more with Massimiliano Allegri but there is a lot of competition in the midfield and so far he has not found much space in the Rossoneri lineup. Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s goal is to participate in the upcoming World Cup but to convince Thomas Tuchel to bet on him there’s a need for him to play with continuity, something he lacked in this first part of the season. On the tracks of the former Chelsea man are some Spanish and German clubs: there could be important updates in the coming weeks.

For Ruben Loftus-Cheek there has also been talk of Lazio but a move to Rome is almost impossible due to economic issues: Maurizio Sarri has a great desire to work with the rocky midfielder again but for Claudio Lotito it is too expensive. Under Sarri’s guidance, Loftus-Cheek had his best season at Chelsea, then a serious Achilles tendon injury forced him into the pits for nearly 300 days, during which he missed 46 games between Chelsea and the English national team. Milan invested 19 million euros to sign him in 2023 and so far he has scored 11 goals with the Rossoneri.

Now that Ardon Jashari is back, Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s minutes could shrink further. The young Swiss midfielder, who arrived in the summer from Club Brugge for 36 million euros, got off to the worst start of his time with the Rossoneri: he broke his fibula at the end of August and remained in the pits until the end of October. In the league he played only the first game against Cremonese, in the Coppa Italia he played 81 minutes against Lazio in early December.

In addition to Ardon Jashari, Milan signed Luka Modric for free in the summer. Some doubted his physical condition but the Croatian quickly silenced the skeptics with classy performances that also earned him the Legend 2025 award at the Gazzetta Sports Awards.
