Paris: no dice for Flavio Cobolli vs. Ben Shelton

Flavio Cobolli’s path to the Paris Masters 1000 stopped in the second round: the Italian tennis player was defeated in two sets by the American Ben Shelton, who won with a score of 7-6, 6-3 in one hour and 34 minutes of play.
Making the difference was the American player’s serve, virtually impregnable for the Roman athlete, who nevertheless defended well. The first set, dominated by the serves, was decided at the tie-break. In the second the U.S. placed the only break of the match in the sixth game: it was enough to take the lead and close the partial and the match.
Shelton netted 3 aces and scored 86% of the points with the first and 71% with the second, confirming his superlative batting performance. In the third round Shelton will face the winner of the match between Tien and Rublev.
