Alex Marquez dominates first free practice at Portimao, Nicolò Bulega and Pecco Bagnaia at the back of the pack

It was Alex Marquez who set the fastest time in the first free practice session of the MotoGP-class Grand Prix of Portugal at the Portimao circuit, the penultimate round of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship.

1’39″145 was the time set by Marc’s younger brother, who dominated the season and is currently injured. Alex on his Ducati Gresini was 196 thousandths ahead of Marco Bezzecchi on the Aprilia and 233 ahead of Australian Jack Miller on the Team Pramac Yamaha.

Fourth was Frenchman Johann Zarco on the Honda, fifth was Spaniard Pol Espargaro on the Red Bull KTM, and sixth and seventh were Franco Morbidelli and Luca Marini on Ducati VR46 and Honda, respectively.

Very far behind are the factory Ducatis of Nicolò Bulega, Marc Marquez’s replacement, and Pecco Bagnaia, who are 14th and 17th respectively. In the afternoon, pre-qualifying.
