There were moments of fear this evening at the Arechi stadium in Salerno where Salernitana-Crotone was played, a match valid for the thirteenth day of the round of Serie C.

At 4′ Luca Villa, the hosts’ left outside forward, was knocked unconscious for a few moments following a clash of play with Enrico Piovanello. Teammates and opponents immediately called for help: goalkeeper Antonio Donnarumma even ran to the sidelines to retrieve a stretcher.

Unfortunately, after a few moments of fear, the situation calmed down. Villa left the stadium in an ambulance but conscious. Transported to the nearby hospital “San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d’Aragona”, he underwent a CT scan that came back negative.

According to health sources, the footballer suffered a concussive head injury with a mouth wound that was sutured with four stitches. The CT scan was negative but the footballer will spend – as a precautionary measure – the night in the hospital.
