Italy, other than 9-0: the goleada victory is Norway’s

All’Italy would have needed an impossible 9-0 win to qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup but at San Siro against Norway after a promising start came a narrow 4-1 defeat.
The Azzurri, second in the group and already defeated in the first leg in Oslo, unlocked the result with a nice play by Pio Esposito in the 11th minute, but before halftime they had only a couple more chances to double.
In the second half Gattuso’s men dropped conspicuously and Solbakken’s men took advantage to equalize with Nusa, before a tramortant one-two by Haaland.
The Manchester City striker with a one-two in the space of three minutes sealed the deal while in the final, newcomer Larsen dropped the poker, dealing the final blow to an Italy side that will know its fate in the playoff draw on Thursday.
