Accordingly, Milan is looking for an experienced, international-level defender to bolster its backline, and is considering several options ahead of the January market. Among the most surprising candidates on the list is former great Thiago Silva.

According to La Repubblica, the Brazilian central, 41 years old last September, could return to San Siro 13 years after his farewell to Milan. Thiago Silva despite his age is still shining at Fluminense, where he is a cornerstone of the defense but his contract expires in June 2026.

The Greenoro player is a great example of football longevity: despite his ID card, he has already played more than 40 games in all competitions in 2025. And the Brazilian defender could give the defense the leadership and solidity that Massimiliano Allegri has been asking for a long time in order to aim for the Scudetto already this season. The rumors come on the heels of the good season 40-year-old Luka Modric is having in the Rossoneri, and on rumors of a possible future landing of 37-year-old Lewandowski at Milanello.

Thiago Silva played for Milan for three seasons, from 2009 to 2012, winning a Scudetto in 2011. In his career he played extensively for Paris Saint-Germina, where he won most of the trophies. He ended his experience with the Brazilian national team in 2022, after 113 games.
