No shocker: Achraf Hakimi, Paris Saint Germain’s Moroccan defender, was awarded as the best African player of the year 2025 on Wednesday night during a ceremony organized in Rabat by the African Football Confederation.

Winner of the Champions League, the European Super Cup, the French Cup and Ligue 1 with the team coached by Luis Enrique, the former Inter Milan player preceded Egyptian Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Nigerian Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray).

Hakimi’s new goal is to win the African Cup of Nations, which will be played in Morocco itself between 2025 and 2026, from Dec. 21 to Jan. 18.

Ghizlane Chebbak, also from Morocco, was voted best African player of the year.
