The Italian Cycling Federation, on Saturday, made official the reorganization of the national road and track cycling teams, especially welcoming Roberto Amadio, who will be the new technical commissioner of the national elite road team, and Elia Viviani, who has been entrusted with the role of team manager of the Italian road and track cycling teams.

Cordiano Dagnoni, FCI president, commented on the news on the sidelines of Saturday’s Federal Council meeting: “I greet on behalf of the entire movement Elia Viviani, who joins the Technical Structure in a role that will allow him to put his great experience – at the disposal of the National Teams, he said. We have assigned Roberto Amadio as coach of the elite road, so that Marco Villa, as was planned, can concentrate on two sectors (women’s time trial and track) on which Italy invests many hopes in view of the Olympics. I am sure that this new arrangement will allow each individual CT to work more profitably within a group that, as indicated at the beginning of my first term, moves and thinks as one team”.

“I am pleased with the trust placed in me by the Federal Council and I hope to be up to the task assigned to me– said Elia Viviani instead. “The Federation has been my home as an athlete for so many years, this role will be a challenge for me but above all an opportunity to grow and learn as a manager”.

Great satisfaction was also expressed by the new coach, Amadio: “It is a great honor for me to lead the national team. We restart from the excellent placings of this season and from several young people who are maturing. I thank the Federal Council for the trust”. Thus, finally, Marco Villa: “I accepted the post of road coach èlite knowing that it would be one year, the time needed to reorganize the sector with a broader perspective than a single season. On several occasions I mentioned how time trial and track were important commitments that deserve the right commitment. The 2028 Olympics are not that far away and it is right to focus all our attentions on these two strategic sectors”.
