Genoa, Daniele De Rossi between regret and awareness

Genoa is moving up its standings for the third consecutive day, but against Cagliari the Grifone wasted a go-ahead goal twice, even risking in the second half to lose it. Martin’s somewhat fortunate goal, however, allowed Daniele De Rossi to avoid what would have been his first knockout on his new bench.
“We need points and I would have preferred to get three – explained the Roman coach in a press conference after the 3-3 draw at Unipol Domus -, but we have to settle for a good performance, even though it was a game in which we could very well have won. I believed in it until the end, even when we were down 3-2. We were good at not losing it”.
“We showed concreteness and to put forward a certain kind of attitude on the field – added De Rossi -Maybe this forced us to uncover ourselves a little bit’ but the fact that we didn’t get crushed in our own half of the field is a positive aspect. I am sure that playing with this attitude the three points will come”.
Saturday’s 3-3 draw is the third useful result for Genoa, which after Patrick Vieira’s exoneration found victory in Reggio Emilia against Sassuolo, with the Murgita-Criscito duo on the bench, and a home draw against Fiorentina 2-2, another game in which the Grifone wasted a go-ahead goal, then recovered after conceding the opponent’s comeback.
