Sofia Goggia’s season is taking off: the champion from Bergamo earned her second podium in the space of two days in St.Moritz, finishing third in the SuperG in Switzerland behind only New Zealand’s Alice Robinson, who with a time of 1’14″84 captured the first career success in the specialty, and France’s Romane Mirandoli. L’Azzurra managed this time to put the amazing Lindsey Vonn behind her to take her 64th World Cup podium, her 20th in SuperG. St.Moritz also proved to be a favorable location for Goggia, who has scored a total of nine podiums in her career, including three victories.

Sofia Goggia was the big star of Fisi’s Media Day.

The'former Olympic champion spoke ahead of Milan-Cortina.

"The World Cup I’ve been competing steadily since 2015-2016, so exactly ten seasons".
"o I’m fine, I worked well this summer, however I had a very good season last year, solid and also with the little preparation that managed to do because of the foot.”
"In the spring I exploited so much the winter conditions present in our mountains, the summer still started from a good physical base and the preparation on skis even in the South American block went well.”
"In my opinion we should not think about the seasons with the rainbow events, with a different conception than the others".
"You have to, in my opinion, get off to a good start, test yourself in the World Cup, be able to figure out what level you are at, calibrate your shot where there are things to fine-tune".
"But the secret that Federica taught us last year is to ski every weekend strong; so, my goal is to be 100 percent on snow every day".
"I’m focused on what I have to do, without big expectations, but step by step.”
Federica Brignone meanwhile is continuing her rehabilitation.
The dream is to succeed for the Olympics.
It will be hard but dreaming costs nothing.

After the race Sofia commented on her performance this way:“It was a very solid test, I feel like I had so much margin on the way down. I think the smears are daughters of unaccustomed to speed, but I think it was a good test. To be third with the margin I know I have is a good sign. I misdirected a little bit in the last jump, but I tackled with intelligence some steps that needed attention; I could have risked more but it” is a good test. The balance of the weekend are a fourth and third place in the two downhill runs, a third place in Super G.

“I have to say that these results, although not excellent without victories, give me a lot of confidence – continued Goggia -. Today I was particularly calm, I had clear lines in my head: I trusted the coaches’ indications and my ideas, even if I could have pushed harder. Now we go to Val d’Isere, now let…s see if we can win another cow, it would be the third one”. Also very happy Elena Curtoni, who finished sixth: “I turned the weekend around. The two downhill runs were a bit uphill for me, I am working a lot on confidence but in the race I still have to find the right feeling”.

“Today I was a little looser, I felt more in my comfort zone, although I can push harder still. The season is still long and there is a way to grow race after race”. Eighth place for Laura Pirovano: “I think I put in a good ski, maybe a tad conservative but I still struggle to attack and take full risks”.

“Sometimes in reconnaissance I see things a little harder than they really are: skiing well but not risking just enough to do anything more. I am looking forward to racing in Val d’Isere because it is a track I like”.
