Lorenzo Musetti and his resolutions for 2026: clear ideas

Lorenzo Musetti has been a big player in 2025. A really good year in which the blue showed that he can play at the highest level. The only downside: never being able to beat the two giants of world tennis, that is, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. In fact, for the year that is coming, among the goals of the Carrara native is precisely to raise the bar even higher and try to play at the same level as the two best players in the world. He has made giant strides in recent times but there is still way and room for improvement.

The blue tennis player wants to bridge the gap that separates him from the'Alto Adige and Carlos Alcaraz
The champion from Carrara talked about his goal in 2026: to reach the two outliers there in front
"This'year we saw the distance between them and the others, they are a step above everyone"

"I want to reach them, and having added important figures to my team is a decisive step toward that direction"

"I want to close the gap that this'year was still evident"
Musetti wants to become the third wheel, and to do so he added a super coach to his team
"José Perlas is an important figure that I feel can bring something more in addition to my historical coach"

"The joint work with Tartarini I believe can lead to steps forward and to the ultimate leap forward that I am looking for"

Musetti will thus replicate the winning formula of the double coach who adopted Sinner
"I want to increase my aggressiveness, it is fundamental in the modern game", he said on the sidelines of the Gazzetta Sports Awards
"I don’t just want to be a counter-attacker, but also more proactive starting from the opening shots of the game"

“2026 goals? Definitely to be more and more continuous to close the gap with the top two. During the season I had the opportunity to face both Sinner and Alcaraz and I always came out beaten. But the important thing was to bring home information, and I realized what I could grow on” his clear words to Gazzetta dello Sport. To succeed, he is ready for anything, including increasing the’intensity of daily work, supported by a team that has been further strengthened with the’arrival of Jose Palas.

“The desire to add a figure to the team was born during the week in Paris, at Roland Garros. I was coming from a very good period, however, I felt the need for something different, who could give something new to me, to Simone, to the whole team. Someone who could bring experience-Jose from this point of view has a lot of it. Everything is going very well, the work is going on and I think it is giving us a lot of cues to try to close the gap a little bit with the top guys in the world” explained Lorenzo Musetti himself.

In the immediate future, Lorenzo Musetti aims to do well in the first Slam of the season, namely the Australian Open (Jannik Sinner defending champion): “I want to reach the second week already in Australia: that is a starting goal. Last year I came close, then I lost a match that could have turned out differently and it would have opened up the scoreboard a bit”.

Becoming a father for the second time, Lorenzo Musetti, at just 23 years old, seems to have become much more mature and ready to achieve increasingly important goals. Among the many there’s also the desire to return to the Azzurri jersey (“I was sorry to miss the Finals in Bologna but I was the first fan in front of the TV”).
