Masters 1000 Shanghai, Jannik Sinner knocked out in the round of 16: Ben Shelton wins

Jannik Sinner's experience at the Shanghai Masters 1000 ends in the round of 16. The South Tyrolean, in fact, è was defeated by American Ben Shelton with a score of 2-6 6-3 7-6 in 2 hours and 30 minutes of play.

In the first set, the Italian number one managed to impose his rhythm right from the start by posting a break in the first game. In the continuation of the set, then, the world number four manages to extend his lead by closing the first partial in just over 30 minutes.

In the second partial, Shelton managed to find more confidence and in the fourth game managed to place the decisive break by taking advantage of four consecutive errors by the South Tyrolean.

The third set, however, è characterized by much balance and several unrealized chances on both sides. In the decisive tie-break, the American got off to a rocket start by posting a four-point-zero lead. Sinner, however, managed to sew up the tear and bring himself back in touch. In conclusion, thanks to two first serves and an effective forehand Ben Shelton closed the score on 7-5.

However, the experience in Asia for the South Tyrolean ended on a positive note, as he won the ATP 500 in Beijing, the arithmetic qualification to the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin and the fourth position in the ATP Ranking.
