Lorenzo Insigne will return to Italy but not to Lazio, which had followed him with great interest in this winter soccer market session going so far as to offer him a contract worth more than one million euros per season until 2027, nor to Napoli. The Campania-born striker will return to Pescara, a Serie B club in which he played in the 2011/2012 season, scoring a whopping 20 goals and providing 13 assists in 38 games between the league and Coppa Italia, contributing to the Abruzzo club’s promotion to Serie A.

The former Napoli captain, who was released last summer after his experience in MLS with Toronto, with whom he scored 19 goals, combined with 16 assists, in a total of 76 appearances, has reached an agreement with Pasquale Foggia, sporting director of the biancazzurra club. Also decisive in the negotiations was Marco Verratti, his former teammate in the Pescara days, who returned to the Abruzzo club in the role of partner. “The relationship I always had with Lorenzo was beautiful – he admitted to the microphones of Fanpage.it -. Negotiations had been going on for about a month: we met in Naples and decided to maintain the utmost confidentiality”.

“Lorenzo was correct with us, he told us clearly what he thought – added the’former PSG midfielder. “He told us that if a certain situation was not unblocked by Monday, he would come to Pescara. And that is exactly what happened. “He has not yet chosen his jersey number, but he is very happy. He wants to come back and play, because for him the most important thing is to be on the field. This is great news for us and I think it is great news for Lorenzo” too.

Insigne is expected on Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Pescara to undergo medical examinations with the Delfino before signing a six-month contract with an option to extend if he is saved.

Pescara, in fact, is the bottom of Serie B with 14 points. Insigne will try to help the biancazzurri to a difficult salvation starting as early as the next delicate challenge against Mantova, penultimate with 19 points, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Adriatico Giovanni Cornacchia at 5:15 p.m.
